aim of the store
This project addresses the issue of waste in the tennis community. As part of the project, a concept for a tennis store was developed, featuring an interior made from recycled materials. The goal of the project is not only to create an aesthetically pleasing space but also to raise environmental awareness. The interior is housed in repurposed shipping containers located next to the tennis courts, providing customers with quick and easy access.

why the store is sustainable?

In the store, customers can purchase sports clothing and accessories made from sustainable or recycled materials available on the market. For example, Infinite Athletic offers clothing made from re- cycled polyester racket strings, as well balls from recycled materials.recycling of used products
In this facility, customers can also leave their used tennis equipment (such as sportswear, strings, packaging from balls, as well as the balls themselves). The store then forwards these materials to com- panies specializing in processing them into new products, thus pro- moting a circular economy for materials.

Eco-friendly materials such as recycled aluminum and steel, Laykold’s surface made from old rubber from tennis balls mixed with acrylic, particle cement boards, accessories made from recycled tennis waste, e.g. shelves, seats, hangers, were used to finish the interior.

One of my objectives was to conduct laboratory tests and prototyping aimed at exploring the possibilities of reusing tennis waste. This was made possible thanks to collaboration with the Department of Biomaterials and Composites and the assistance of Dr. Piotr Szatkowski, M.Eng., from the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, as well as the use of the Faculty’s WFP Design and Research Workshops.
The CMF design incorporates recycled materials or environmentally neutral alternatives. The project presents concepts and development paths for future refinement.
Young Design Award 2024
The project qualified for the finals of the 17th edition of the Young Design competition, where the theme was “Responibility.” The competition is organized by the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsow.

The bachelor’s thesis „CMF design of the interior of a conceptual tennis store in the spirit of sustainable design” focuses on the problem of waste in the tennis environment. A historical analysis of materials, the scale and types of waste, the possibility and problem of recycling, and current solutions in the market introducing sustainable tennis products and processes are presented. As part of the project, a tennis store concept emphasizing the utilization of tennis waste in interior finishes was proposed. The work takes into account the analysis of sportswear stores, as well as eco-friendly materials for interior design. The aim of the project is not only to create an aesthetic space, but also to develop environmental awareness and motivate conscious purchasing decisions, as the store assumes the sale of sustainable products. The store will offer the opportunity to leave used tennis equipment and clothing, which the store will then donate for recycling. The store has been arranged in a space composed of used containers, located next to the courts, providing quick and easy access for customers. The project was depicted in visuals reflecting the nature and idea of sustainable design. The results of laboratory tests related to waste tennis strings were presented, along with prototypes of seats made from used tennis balls or court nets, which represent a proposal for processing these materials. An interior CMF has also been created, which involves the use of materials derived from the waste of the tennis environment, recycling of other materials or eco-friendly raw materials.
